Come join us for our AFC Opening Season Party.  We will be having a Smoking Kow Barbecue Food Truck, Mr Softee Ice Cream Truck, a DJ, Face Painting, Bounce House, Bocci Ball, and Corn Hole.  And come meet our new Pool General Manager, Claire Rubinger, who will also be there!

Annual AFC Pickleball Tournament

Tournament Details

The tournament will be a double-elimination bracket.  The tournament is open to novice and advanced players alike.  We’ll make sure (the best we can) that everyone gets to play fun and competitive games.

Info Details

What:            Pickleball Tournament for all skill levels

When:           Saturday, June 4th, 10:30 AM – 2:30 PM
Where:          At AFC (lower courts #1 and #2)
Who:             Any AFC member who enjoys pickleball; all skill levels welcome
Cost:              Free

Equipment:  We will have extra racquets and balls, if needed (but bring your own, if you have them)
Type:              Mixed Doubles (male & female on same team).   We may also do an 18 & under if we have enough players.
Other:            We’ll provide soft drinks and water for everyone.  Since it’ll be lunchtime, please bring whatever snacks or lunch you want to eat.

Note About the Event

While we have the courts reserved from 10:30-2:30, you’ll only need to stay as long as your doubles team has not been eliminated.  In previous years, that has taken roughly 3-4 hours for the winners, but your team may or may not play that long.  Everyone should be there by 10:30, so we can all start together.

This brunch event will occur during Adult Swim.

Come join us for Father’s Day Brunch on June 18 during Adult Swim!  Please purchase tickets in advance by June 16. We will be having a Bloody Mary bar sans alcohol (please BYOB), Good Company doughnuts, Northside Social muffins, and pastries. No same-day ticket sales.

Come celebrate Independence Day with us at the club, and enjoy a Mr. Softee ice cream truck from 2:00pm-4:00pm!  Members purchase from the truck.

Join us at Adult Swim for a Deluxe Omelette Party. Menu: One Omelette Made to Order, Fresh Fruit Salad, Bagels & Cream Cheese, Croissants & Butter, Juice, & Coffee. Cost: $25/person. Bring your friends or family – the AFC guest fee is waived with their prepaid brunch purchase. Ticket cutoff July 31st.

Join bocci ball and corn hole enthusiasts to learn the game or to compete with pros.

AFC is hosting a movie night. Showtime starts at sunset with free popcorn and ice pops. See the event info here

Celebrate Labor Day weekend with lobster rolls catered by Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls in Shirlington. $18 includes a chilled lobster roll and two side salads, and 1 grilled hotdog for children 12 and under. Ticket cutoff is August 28th.

Pooch Plunge
Each year we close out the pool season by closing down the pool to humans and opening it up to your dogs.

Rules of Participation
1. Absolutely no humans allowed in the water.
2. Each person must sign the Assumption of Risk and acknowledge the event Rules, before entering.
3. All dogs must have a current license and proof of rabies vaccination.
4. Be courteous to other guests and clean up your dog’s “accidents.”
5. Your dog may be released from their leash only upon entering the designated pool area.
6. Please do not trim your dog’s nails prior to attending the Dog Swim.
7. No children under the age of 16 are allowed without adult supervision.
8. Your dog must remain under your control at all times. If your dog is acting aggressively, you and your dog may be escorted from the event.
9. Please be sure your dog has been exposed to swimming. Some dogs swim well, some don’t. If not, he/she may become afraid or aggressive.
10. Please help your dog into and out of the pool.
11. Female dogs in season are not allowed.
12. No dogs with health conditions that may endanger themselves or others are allowed.

Float & Grill Nights

Float & Grill nights are scheduled every Saturday night between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day weekend, weather permitting.

AFC provides the hot grill and cooking utensils.  You provide food and beverages for your party, and a dish to share with the other picnickers. A second grill is reserved for vegetable-only grilling.

Private Event Reservations

Members can make reservations for private events at the club.

Peak Season (2nd Sat in June – Last Sun in July)

On Saturdays and Sundays during Peak season, a member household may bring up to 5 guests. Exceptions to allow more than 5 guests during peak season will not be granted except in rare and unusual circumstances.

Non-Peak Season (August – First Sat June)

On weekdays and on Saturdays and Sundays during non-Peak season, a member household may bring up to 10 guests. Exceptions to allow more than 10 guests during non-peak season will require approval by the Special Events Chair and the Club President.  Large groups of 20 or more non-members will be considered only at the discretion of the Board.
